Conscientious attention to duty and outstanding customer service have earned Misty Carpenter Employee of the Month honors for October.
Carpenter joined Shore Memorial in 2005 as a Speech Language Pathologist and quickly established her reputation as a leader in her field. She developed an outpatient speech program, established the Swallowing Protocol and worked closely with others to design the Dysphagia Screening Program. A self directed worker, she ensures patient needs are met whenever needs arise.
Carpenter is truly a team player who works collaboratively with patients, physicians and nutrition services to ensure patients are properly identified and served. Carpenter‘s contributions are extremely valuable to the department and hospital.
Jennifer Pesce, rehabilitation director, says “Misty was called on her day off. There was an ICU patient with orders for a modified Barium Swallow to be performed in Radiology. Misty took it upon herself to coordinate with Radiology, nursing and the physician to make sure this patient received the proper test in an expedient fashion.”
“Anyone who knows Misty is not surprised by this approach as it is how she functions daily at Shore Memorial. As the only speech therapist on staff during the week, Misty keeps things running smoothly, and always with a smile.”
In her free time Carpenter enjoys traveling with her husband and children. She is especially looking forward to a trip to Key West where she will celebrate her 40th birthday.
