Rev. Susan Sparks, comedian, lawyer and senior pastor of the historic Madison Avenue Baptist Church in New York City, was the keynote speaker at Shore Memorial Hospital Pastoral Care Services 5th Annual Spirituality Summit on November 19. Rev. Sparks spoke about the importance of humor in our lives.
During her presentation, Rev. Sparks shared with her fellow clergy members, parish nurses and spiritual caregivers, about laughing your way to grace. “If you can laugh at yourself, then you can forgive yourself. If you can forgive yourself, then you can forgive others,” she said.
Gina Preston, of Shore Memorial, also spoke about the “Spirit of Shore” and the role of spirituality in providing patient-centered care. “Spirituality is one of our strengths at Shore Memorial,” said Preston.
