Cancer survivors, their family and friends gathered at Shore Memorial Hospital on June 7 to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day. Shore Memorial’s celebration was one of many events held across the nation on the first Sunday in June each year to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day, the world’s largest cancer survivors’ celebration.

Shore Memorial’s event included a free brunch, chair massages, line dancing, giveaways and visits with Dr. Gismo, one of the hospital’s Caring Clown volunteers.

A cancer survivor is defined by the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation as anyone living with a history of cancer, including newly diagnosed survivors as well as long-term survivors. National Cancer Survivors Day is designed to provide a source of inspiration and hope to adults and children who are living with cancer today.
