Shore Memorial Hospital’s March Employee of the Month Recognized for Professionalism and Customer Service

Professionalism and commitment to customer service have earned Richard Cox, of the Cardiovascular Institute, Employee of the Month honors for March.

Cox first joined the Shore Memorial family in February 1995 as a certified home health aide. In 1999, he moved to Radiology as a patient support assistant and then to Cardiac Services. Today, Cox is a registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer. He can be counted on to pick up new tasks with ease and he readily shares his knowledge when training new staff or lending a helping hand when needed. His team spirit and positive manner make him a team favorite.

Ruth A. Austin, CCT, says, "Yesterday as he finished with a patient in the hallway, I heard Rich say "Thank you for your service." It caught my attention as I usually hear that coming from the patient. I happened to glance over at the patient who was smiling. Rich then said, "We appreciate all that you have done for our country." As the transporter took the patient out of our unit, I went and spoke to Rich who told me that the patient was a soldier in the Vietnam War. The patient had told him several stories during the study. How nice of Rich to appreciate this man for his past! Thank you Rich for all your hard work and never ending kindness."

An area native, Cox lives in Petersburg with his wife and two children. He enjoys camping, fishing, riding dirt bikes and spending time with his family.
