As the lead agency in the Atlantic County Healthy Living Coalition (ACHLC), Shore Medical Center provides a comprehensive program of wellness programs aimed at keeping Atlantic County's residents healthy and well.
The Atlantic County Healthy Living Coalition is an organization of Atlantic County healthcare professionals, organizations and concerned citizens devoted to preventing disease by promoting healthy lifestyles.
Funded by a state grant aimed at implementing the State Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan at the county level, the ACHLC is spearheading an education program aimed at both the general public and healthcare providers. The coalition is focused on:
- Risk factors, screening and early detection, and related insurance and funding issues
- Encouraging area residents to take personal responsibility for their healthcare through personal empowerment and education
- Defining and promoting the importance of healthy lifestyles
- Identification and targeting of groups at high risk
- Working with key county organizations (churches, community groups, schools, businesses, etc) to network services, coordinate resources and improve access for all patients
