Maternity & Pediatrics
Nothing is as special as the bond between parent and child. Shore Medical Center has a family-centered approach when it comes to childbirth and the hospitalization of a child. The Maternity Care Center provides patients with a special combination of compassion, expertise and advanced technology. Special attention is paid to helping pregnant mothers and new families develop and maintain those early bonds. Shore's family-centered approach to care is also evident in the inpatient Pediatric Care Center. Every resource is focused on the child's well-being, comfort and rapid healing.
Shore Medical Center is proud to be the only hospital in South Jersey to be a member of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Care Network. This relationship means that CHOP pediatric hospitalists are available on site, 24 hours a day, everyday to care for newborns and pediatric patients. In addition, CHOP neonatologists are available 24 hours a day for newborns who require specialized care.
Special Care Nursery
Our Intermediate Care Nursery team, supported by CHOP physicians, is equipped to handle newborn deliveries as early as 32 weeks and provide highly specialized care.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine Program
During pregnancy, a woman’s medical needs are usually handled by an obstetrician, a physician who specializes in pregnancy, labor and delivery. However, sometimes a woman needs additional expertise and she is referred to a maternal-fetal medicine specialist -- an obstetrician who is trained in fetal medicine and high-risk pregnancies. Under the direction of Dr. Robert Debbs, a renowned specialist with Penn Medicine and Shore Medical Center, our Maternity Care Center’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Program provides these expectant mothers with the specialized care they need.
