Preparing for an X-Ray

Generally no preparation is required for routine diagnostic imaging. However, you may be asked by the technologists to change into a gown before your examination. You may be asked to remove any objects (i.e. necklaces, earring, etc.) that may obscure the images. If your exam requires a contrast agent, some preparation may be necessary. Instructions will be given at the time of scheduling.

Exams requiring you to refrain from eating and drinking are scheduled in the morning. Other special studies that do not require fasting are usually scheduled in the afternoon. Studies are coordinated to provide you with the highest quality patient care and comfort.
