November is Diabetes Awareness Month. There are currently 25.8 million people with diabetes in the United States. The most important tool people with diabetes have to manage their disease is education. Without the knowledge to properly care for diabetes, the outcomes can be profound. Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure, acquired blindness and non-traumatic limb amputations.
If you or a loved one would like education on how to better manage the disease, call Shore Medical Center's Diabetes Educator, Felicia Ensminger, RN CDE at 653-3489.
