Shore Medical Center is pleased to announce Luanne McGroarty, BSN, RN-BC, Nurse Manager for 5 Stainton, is the recipient of the medical center’s 2012 3rd Quarter Leadership Profile Award.
McGroarty joined Shore Medical Center in August of 1983 as a staff RN. After working in the Critical Care, Clinical Education and Med/Surg departments, she became a Nurse Manager in 2008. As Nurse Manager, McGroarty has demonstrated an ability to build relationships and foster teamwork while encouraging innovation within her department.
In her leadership role, McGroarty has spearheaded several initiatives to improve patient care, including “Transforming Care at the Bedside,” hourly rounding with Junior Volunteers, a patient and family liaison program, and a “Get to Know Your Caregiver” program that prominently hangs pictures of staff for patients to see.
“Luanne is caring, supportive and encouraging to her staff on 5 Stainton, as well as to those outside of her department,” said Director of Volunteer Services Lisa DiTroia, who nominated McGroarty for this award. “She is a manager who truly cares about her staff, working alongside them to share in their daily experiences.”
“I have been fortunate to have had excellent mentors who assisted me in my transition into a management role at Shore,” said McGroarty. “I also have to acknowledge the staff of 5 Stainton. Without their support and willingness to participate in new initiatives, I would not have been able to accomplish the many changes that have improved the patient care experience.”
McGroarty received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre, PA, in 1991. She lives in Linwood, NJ, with her husband Joe. They have five children ages 14 through 26.
