On Friday, September 21, 2012, Joseph A. Dieterle, DO, became the fifth recipient of the Shore Medical Center Department of Medicine’s prestigious Chairman’s Award. Dr. Dieterle, who retired from Shore in January of 2012 after a long career in pediatric medicine, received the award from Howard Karp, DO, Chairman of the Department of Medicine.
“Dr. Dieterle served Shore Medical Center well during his long and distinguished career in pediatric medicine,” said Dr. Karp, a charter member of Shore Physicians Group. “His input and dedication have always been valued. As a distinguished member of Shore’s medical community, he is very deserving of this recognition.”
A native of Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Dieterle graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia in 1970. In 1989, Dr. Dieterle became one of the first Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia affiliated physicians at Shore Medical Center. From 1993 through 2008, he served as chairman of Shore Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics. He also served on the Medical Executive, Emergency Room and Quality Assurance committees. Prior to joining the medical staff at Shore Medical Center, Dr. Dieterle was on the staff of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Parkview Hospital in Philadelphia, Suburban General Hospital in Norristown, PA, Metropolitan Hospital in Philadelphia and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.
Dr. Dieterle is an honorary member of Shore Medical Center’s medical staff. He lives in Oxford, MD, with his wife Peggy.
