American Veterans Post 911 honored Shore Medical Center with its inaugural Hiring A Veteran Program Award at a special presentation held on Monday, October 8, 2012, in the medical center’s state-of-the-art Surgical Pavilion. Shore President and CEO Ron Johnson accepted the award on behalf of the medical center.
“Shore Medical Center is proud to support the brave and dedicated men and women who have given so much through their service to our country,” Johnson said. “We are honored to count a number of distinguished veterans among our passionate employees. We are also grateful to be able to serve the healthcare needs of active and retired military personnel and their dependents through our TRICARE certification.”
Shore employs nearly 50 veterans throughout the medical center. In May of 2012, Shore Medical Center and its Shore Physicians Group (SPG) affiliate became certified by Health Net Federal Services/TRICARE to provide complete healthcare services for all active duty U.S. military personnel, U.S. military retirees with 20 years or more service and their dependents. Veterans who are 65 years of age or older with 20 or more years of service, as well as their dependents, are covered under Medicare A and B and can use TRICARE as their secondary coverage at Shore and SPG.
“Shore Medical Center has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to supporting our nation’s veterans,” said AMVETS Post 911 Commander Jim Donahue, of Ocean City, NJ. “We are pleased to honor Ron Johnson and everyone at Shore for their efforts in providing work for our veterans at the conclusion of their service to our country.”
