Holiday Ceremony Celebrates Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa

Shore Memorial Hospital held a Holiday Celebration on Friday, December 19 in the hospital’s chapel.

Shore Memorial’s President and CEO Albert L. Gutierrez spoke about Three Kings Day, hospital employee Derek Suragh, spoke about celebrating the holidays in his native Jamaica, Dr. Leonard Galler, chairman, Department of Surgery, spoke about the history of Hanukkah and the hospital’s Diversity and Inclusion Program presented the seven principles of Kwanzaa.

Dr. Galler, a general and vascular surgeon, spoke about the history of Hanukkah and some common Hanukkah customs such as lighting the menorah for eight nights. He also stressed that Hanukkah is a time for individuals to reflect on civil rights for all human beings and a time of self-improvement.
