Shore Medical Center Hosts Breast Health Education Event

October 10, 2013

Shore Physicians and Staff To Provide Screenings, Consultations & More To Mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The mammogram is the most effective method for the early detection of breast cancer, with more than 38 million of the screening tests performed annually. However, one-third of women aged 40 and older have not had a mammogram in the past two years. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Shore Medical Center encourages women to be more proactive about their health during a Breast Health Education Event on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, from 8 am to 2 pm in the Shore Medical Center Radiology Department.

Shore Physicians Group breast surgeon Dr. David May, GFH Surgical Associates breast surgeon Dr. Desiree D’Angelo-Donovan and Advanced Radiology Solutions women’s imaging specialist Dr. Alicia Daniels will provide breast screenings and one-on-one consultations. Women will receive education about performing self breast exams. Mammogram appointments will also be available with a prescription.

Also included throughout the day will be complementary hand and chair massages, information about the NJ CEED Program for the Uninsured, the Shore Cancer Center and the medical center’s Smoking Cessation Program, giveaways and refreshments.

To RSVP for Shore’s Breast Health Education Event, or to register for a mammogram, please call 609-653-3992.
