The Art Gallery at Shore Medical Center, located on the second floor of Shore’s state-of-the-art Surgical Pavilion, is proud to present works from a trio of local artists: Paul Harrington, Katherine Mott and Frank Smith.
An opening reception will be held on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, from 2 to 4 pm. Guests will be able to meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments. Free parking will be available in Shore’s self-park garage located along Medical Center Way.
“The power of the arts as an instrument of healing can not be understated,” said Shore Medical Center Foundation Director of Annual Giving Abigail Spencer. “We are thrilled to welcome these wonderful artists to Shore and believe that their exceptional works of art will brighten the experience of our patients, their families and Shore employees.”
The artists whose works will be on display include:
- Paul Harrington, of Linwood, NJ, is a self-taught artist with a lifelong passion for painting and photography. His images are inspired by his travels, music and life.
- Katherine Mott, of Somers Point, NJ, is an abstract/nonrepresentational painter. A trustee at the Ocean City Art League for almost eight years, she enjoys experimenting with mixed media, supports and processes.
- Frank Smith, of Ocean City, NJ, is a photographer who takes his artistic inspiration from “Shibui,” the Japanese term for an aesthetic of simple, subtle and unobtrusive beauty.
The Shore Medical Center Art Gallery is part of a holistic approach to patient-centered care that embraces the mind, body and spirit. Shore has been recognized as the first and only hospital in New Jersey to be formally designated as a “Planetree Designated® Patient-Centered Hospital.” This designation recognizes Shore’s achievement and innovation in the delivery of patient-centered care. Shore is one of less than 50 healthcare organizations worldwide to receive the Patient-Centered Designation since the program’s launch in 2007.
