For consistently delivering outstanding, patient-centered service and embodying Shore Medical Center’s Mission, Vision and Values, Shore is proud to announce that Education/Integrative Care Specialist Donna Gurdgiel, MSN, RN, has been named the medical center’s December 2013 Employee of the Month.

Gurdgiel first joined Shore in 1977 as a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. During her Shore career she has made an impact throughout the medical center, also working for Shore Care Home Health before joining Organizational Development and the Integrative Care program. Nominated by her co-workers, Gurdgiel was cited for a positive outlook and willingness to go above and beyond to care for the needs of all Shore employees. This includes coming in several times to hold training sessions for members of the night shift and organizing complementary integrative therapy sessions for co-workers.

“Donna ensures that our future caregivers will be given the opportunity to experience the best clinical experience possible, and is always willing to serve as a resource for her fellow staff members,” said Administrative Nursing Supervisor Jennifer Pero, MSN, RN. “Donna maintains professionalism and a sense of humor at all times, again reminding me why she is such a pleasure to work with each day.”

Gurdgiel lives in South Seaville, NJ, with her husband Joe. She has two adult sons and one grandson. She said she is grateful for the recognition by her peers.

“I have a tremendous opportunity to work with extremely compassionate people who make coming to work a joy,” said Gurdgiel. “I am thankful for the many opportunities I have had for continued learning and professional growth, and am particularly proud to be part of an organization that is so focused on patient-centered care.”
