Lead Respiratory Therapist Karen McKinley Named Shore Medical Center’s September Employee of the Month

October 13, 2014

For consistently delivering outstanding, patient-centered service and embodying Shore Medical Center’s Mission, Vision and Values, Shore is proud to announce that Lead Respiratory Therapist Karen McKinley has been named the medical center’s September 2014 Employee of the Month.

McKinley joined Shore in June of 1995 as a staff respiratory therapist, where she has become a true team player in every sense. As a neonatal-pediatric specialist, a certified asthma educator and an adult critical care specialist, she is a resource for patients and co-workers alike. McKinley became lead respiratory therapist in 2004.

“Karen is calm and professional in every situation that she is faced with,” said Jennifer Pero, MSN, RN, who nominated McKinley for this award. “She takes time with patients and their families and treats them as if they were her own.”

McKinley lives in Marmora, NJ, with her husband David. They have four grandchildren. Being honored as employee of the month is overwhelming, and she said it is a wonderful surprise she does not take lightly.

“I consider myself fortunate to be able to work at a job I love and with people I respect,” she said. “My coworkers never cease to amaze me with their care and compassion for our patients and each other.”
