Shore Medical Center Seeks to Boost Local Economy with First Ever “Locals First” Business Fair

November 25, 2014

Business owners from Somers Point and surrounding towns are invited to Shore Medical Center’s (SMC) first ever “Locals First” Business Fair on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 9 am to noon in its DiOrio Hall.  The free event is intended to build business relationships between Shore Medical Center and local vendors that will help boost the local economy.

Shore Medical Center CFO David Hughes said that supporting the local economy is one of SMC’s top priorities.  “As the largest employer in Somers Point and a major sponsor of many area events, Shore Medical Center is committed to helping fuel the local economy. With this event, we’re taking that commitment a step further.  We’re looking forward to working with local businesses to explore ways we can keep the money in the area,” Hughes said.

Vendors who have services or products that could benefit the medical center and its campus will have an opportunity to meet members of its purchasing department.

Vendors will also have an opportunity to meet representatives from SMC’s marketing department to discuss partnership opportunities, including participation in SMC’s 2015 Community Business Discount Book, which offers SMC employees discounts at participating local businesses.  Vendors can also choose to advertise in the book without offering a discount, or discuss other ways vendors can reach more than 1,000 employees of SMC.
