The Auxiliary of Shore Medical Center (SMC) celebrated the start of the holiday season with the annual illumination of its Tree of Lights on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, in the Ben and Flora Baker Surgical Pavilion Lobby.
Memories of family and friends are especially poignant during the holiday season. Through the Tree of Lights, members of the community are invited to commemorate those special people in their lives by making a Memorial or Honorary donation and having their names inscribed in the Tree of Lights book, which is on display in the SMC lobby throughout the holiday season.
This year, the Auxiliary raised more than $4,600 in generous donations through the Tree of Lights book, with all proceeds benefiting SMC.
Every year, an Auxilian is recognized at the ceremony, attended by SMC executives, employees, patients and members of the community. This year, the Auxiliary’s outgoing chairman Susan Biscieglia and her husband Charles (pictured above), an SMC board member, were given the honor of lighting the tree. Susan has been an Auxiliary member since 2005, serving as chairman of the group for the past four years. Charles Biscieglia joined SMC’s Board of Trustees in 2000 and served as board chair in 2006 and 2007. Additionally, he has served on the Shore Memorial Health System board since 2004 and served as the Board Vice Chairman in 2010, 2013 and 2014. Since 2002, Charles has chaired the Leadership Development and Compensation Committee.
