Auxiliary's Annual Tree of Lights Event Raises $5,000 for Shore

December 08, 2015

The Auxiliary of Shore Medical Center celebrated the start of the holiday season with the annual illumination of its Tree of Lights on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, in the Ben and Flora Baker Surgical Pavilion Lobby.

Memories of family and friends are especially poignant during the holiday season. Through the Tree of Lights, members of the community are invited to commemorate those special people in their lives by making a Memorial or Honorary donation and having their names inscribed in the Tree of Lights book, which is on display in the SMC lobby throughout the holiday season.

This year, the Auxiliary raised $5,000 in generous donations through the Tree of Lights, with all proceeds benefiting Cancer programs at Shore.

Every year, an Auxilian is recognized at the ceremony, attended by Shore executives, employees, patients and members of the community.  This year, the staff and volunteers of the Auxiliary's Somers Point and Marmora thrift shops were honored for their efforts that contributed more than $1.2 million toward the Auxiliary's annual donation to the hospital over the past five years.
