Medical Technologist Kate van Order Named Shore Medical Center’s December Employee of the Month

December 23, 2015

For consistently delivering outstanding, patient-centered service and embodying Shore Medical Center’s Mission, Vision and Values, Shore is proud to announce that Medical Technologist Kate van Order has been named the medical center’s December 2015 Employee of the Month.

Van Order joined Shore Medical Center in March of 2010 as a medical technologist in the Laboratory Department. Ever since, she has steadily assumed greater responsibility while embracing every opportunity for professional growth. Most recently, she has served as Shore’s interim Point of Care Coordinator.

When the College of American Pathologists conducted their biannual inspection earlier this fall, Katie deftly handled the process and ensure that Point of Care performed well during the accreditation process.

“Katie has done an exceptional job in her role as interim coordinator,” says Core Lab Manager Cheryl Franks, who nominated van Order for this award. “Her supervision of the vast amount of POC testing that occurs throughout the medical center has been extraordinary, and she has been invaluable to both me and the organization.”

Van Order lives in Ocean View, NJ, with her husband Roger and their daughter Charlotte. She is quick to point out that her success is directly tied to the teamwork that exists within the Laboratory.

“I truly enjoy working alongside others who value great patient care,” she said. “I work with an excellent group of professionals who strive for great patient care every day. Their hard work often goes unrecognized because we have minimal patient contact, so it is gratifying to be able to spotlight the Laboratory’s efforts.”
