Emma Alcantara of Mays Landing Named Shore Medical Center’s January Employee of the Month

February 11, 2016

For consistently delivering outstanding, patient-centered service and embodying Shore Medical Center’s Mission, Vision and Values, Shore is proud to announce that Health Unit Coordinator and Nursing Technician Emma Alcantara has been named the medical center’s January 2016 Employee of the Month.

Alcantara joined Shore Medical Center in May 2003 as a nurse’s aide in the pediatric unit, and then two years later transferred to the maternal child health unit where she has served as a nursing technician and health unit coordinator to this day. In her roles, Alcantara is responsible for setting up and restocking delivery and operating rooms, feeding and performing blood work on newborn babies, tending to patient needs and much more.

Jennifer Pero, MSN, RN, Administrative Nursing Supervisor, says in addition to performing her own duties, Alcantara is always eager to help her colleagues as well.  “Nothing is ever too much for Emma. She consistently goes the extra mile, and always performs her work with a pleasant, calm demeanor and a smile.  She’s not only busy with her own duties, but she is always running around to help others as well,” Pero says.

A resident of Mays Landing, Alcantara has a husband, Eddie, and a son, Eman Karlo.  Alcantara is grateful for the recognition – and to be a part of the Shore family.

“I feel very fortunate to be able to work at Shore in such a positive environment and with wonderful coworkers,” Alcantara says. “I have learned so much here, and promise to continue my efforts, working to the best of my abilities.”
