Shore Medical Center is proud to recognize Lightkeeper Liaison Donna Sailor, RN, as its June 2016 Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional care to Shore’s patients. Shore established the Guardian Angel Program to enable patients to say thank you to a special caregiver through a donation to Shore Medical Center.
Sailor came to Shore Medical Center as a Lightkeeper Liaison in 2011, but her roots with the organization run much deeper to 1988, when she joined Shore as a home health nurse for the hospital’s home health care agency at the time. In her role as Lightkeeper Liaison, Sailor helps patients who are members of the hospital’s Lightkeeper’s Society navigate through their hospitalization or medical care.
“Donna is willing do whatever is needed to support the Lightkeeper’s Society members as well as her teammates,” said Mary McGuckin, manager of the Lightkeeper’s Society. “Her cheerful personality and high energy makes such a positive influence on everyone around her. She is a team player and is always ready to help anyone in need.”
A patient Sailor supported recently wrote to Shore to thank her for her efforts. “It was so reassuring and comforting to have Donna by my side. Donna’s attentive and caring demeanor helped put me at ease,” the patient said.
Sailor lives in Ocean City and Cinnaminson and enjoys spending time with her husband and two grown children, waterskiing and antiquing.
The Guardian Angel program recognizes anyone who works at Shore Medical Center and makes an impact and difference in a patient's care. Guardian Angels are recognized amongst their peers and are presented with a special Guardian Angel pin at Shore Medical Center’s annual pinning ceremony.
