Virginia Salvesen-O’Brien, RN, Named Shore Medical Center’s July 2016 Guardian Angel of the Month

July 07, 2016

Shore Medical Center is proud to recognize Intensive Care Unit nurse Virginia Salvesen-O’Brien, RN, as its July 2016 Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional care to Shore’s patients. Shore established the Guardian Angel Program to enable patients to say thank you to a special caregiver through a donation to Shore Medical Center.

Salvesen-O’Brien joined Shore Medical Center in 2014 and quickly became an integral member of the ICU team. Her coworkers describe her as a conscientious and hard working team player who always has a smile on her face.

“Virginia is truly a patient care advocate,” says Luanne McGroarty, BSN RN-BC 5th Stainton and ICU Nurse Manager.

A patient Salvesen-O’Brien supported recently wrote to Shore to thank her for her efforts. “Virginia is an exceptional nurse. Her professionalism, kindness and compassion won me over,” the patient said.

Salveson-O’Brien, of Somers Point and Havertown, PA, is married and has a son, Shane. In her spare time she enjoys surfing.

The Guardian Angel program recognizes anyone who works at Shore Medical Center and makes an impact and difference in a patient's care. Guardian Angels are recognized amongst their peers and are presented with a special Guardian Angel pin at Shore Medical Center’s annual pinning ceremony.
