Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

AHA 2015 Update to Guidelines is effective – please note new manual prices

Summary:

The Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course presents the skills and didactic information needed to handle a cardiac arrest, and events that follow a cardiac arrest.

This course implements the AHA ACLS guidelines established in 2010 and updated in 2015. Information will be provided via mini-presentations focusing on critical points related to specific algorithms, with additional case scenarios involving a pregnant or newly delivered patient.

Description:

The core of this two-day course is the evaluation and management of the first 10 minutes of an adult, ventricular fibrillation cardiac arrest. The ACLS course is designed to give healthcare providers the basic knowledge to care for the patient in cardiac arrest and to manage acute coronary syndromes and stroke. The intended audience for this course includes: emergency, intensive care, or critical care personnel; emergency medical providers such as physicians, nurses, EMS, paramedics, and respiratory therapists; and other professionals who may need to respond to a cardiovascular emergency.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate primary and secondary ABCD surveys in addition to modifications appropriate for pregnant and/or newly delivered patients based on physiologic changes of pregnancy
  • Demonstrate understanding of AHA algorithms as related to the core cases of ACLS
  • Apply knowledge of ECG interpretation, skills stations, and algorithms to successful completion of megacode and written exam
