Shore Medical Center is proud to recognize Caridad Palaca RN as its November Guardian Angle of the month for providing passionate and exceptional care to Shore’s patients. The Guardian Angel program was established to enable members of the community to say thank you to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center.
Caridad began her career at Shore 23 years ago as a nurse on the orthopedic unit on 3 Hayes. When the third floor merged with 4 Hayes to form Advanced Spine and Orthopedic Institute she continued with them.
According to ASOI Nurse Manager, Jess Mankow RN, MSN, CNRN, Caridad is caring, compassionate, hardworking and a real team player. Over the years she has been a mentor to nearly every nurse on the unit.
“She is knowledgeable and extremely competent with excellent clinical skills. The younger nurses on nightshift describe her as a mother figure because she always watches out for them and helps to guide them and serves as a role model,” said Jess Mankow. “One of her nicknames is ‘One Stick Caridad’ because she is excellent at inserting IV lines, one of the best.” A grateful patient remarked, “Caridad was an exceptional nurse on my healthcare team, she was so kind and compassionate. Please know how grateful I am for the excellent care I received during my stay.”
Caridad lives in Egg Harbor Township and has been married for 41 years and when not working, she enjoys shopping and spending time with her two grandsons.
