Shore Medical Center Names Respiratory Therapist Debi Wharton of Milmay its March Employee of the Month

April 07, 2017

For consistently delivering outstanding patient-centered service and embodying Shore Medical Center’s Mission, Vision and Values, Shore is proud to announce that Respiratory Therapist Debi Wharton has been named the medical center’s March 2017 Employee of the Month.

Wharton first began working at Shore in 1978 as a student respiratory therapist and held several full-time respiratory therapy positions over the next 12 years. She left in 1990, then returned to stay in 2003.

As a member of Shore’s Respiratory Therapy team, Wharton helps patients and their families through difficult diagnoses and treatments, and is always aware of her responsibility as not only a caregiver but as an educator, building relationships with patients so they can better care for themselves.

“Debi goes above and beyond to provide the best care while being conscious of patient safety,” says Respiratory Director Sylvia Buzzi. “She always strives to be the very best she can be.”

Wharton credits her success at Shore to the entire Shore family.

“The reason I am able to shine as a Respiratory Therapist is because of all the employees at Shore, regardless of where they work. Together we are a team whose only mission is excellent patient care,” Wharton says.

Wharton lives in Milmay with her husband Carl and their pets, including their dog, Dillon, horses Thelma and Mustang Sally, and their cats Vester and Churchill. She is passionate about horses and rescues them when she is needed.
