Endoscopy

Each year Shore Medical Center performs more than 2,000 endoscopic procedures which are used to diagnose and treat patients with gastro-intestinal, pulmonary, cardiac, urology and other conditions. Many conditions can be managed from the testing performed in this unit, without surgery and through the use of this fiberoptic technology.

Our team works within the Endoscopy Suite of the hospital in which procedures include, but are not limited to, use of an endoscope. These miniature cameras are used to view problems within the body, usually originating in the genitourinary system or the digestive system. Some of the procedures that are performed on this unit are colonscopy, EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy) cystoscopy, Lithotripsy, Urodynamics, ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography), Transesophageal echocardiograms, cardioversions, bronchoscopy, EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound Bronchoscopy (EBUS), breath testing and minor surgical procedures.
