Golden Nugget Hotel Casino in Atlantic City
No matter your age, income, or background, your life has been touched by cancer in some way. As your community hospital, the team at Shore Medical Center believes that we are all in this fight together. Shore Cancer Center has the latest technology and a tremendous clinical team, made up of the top doctors, nurses, and support staff who care for our patients like family.
As a non-profit hospital, we are able to provide this care because of the generous support of our corporate and community partners. Over the past three years, Shore's "A Cause to Celebrate" gala raised more than $1.5 million for Shore Cancer Center. On Friday, October 5, 2018 at 6pm, we will present our 4th Annual "A Cause to Celebrate" gala at the Golden Nugget Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, and we are asking for your support.
In addition to delicious foods, premium cocktails and silent auction, this year's event will be black tie optional, with a special performance by the Atlantic City Ballet and accompanying musicians, followed by a DJ for dancing. While not a sit-down dinner, there will be plenty of seating and tables so you can mix and mingle all night long. It promises to be an outstanding evening, with proceeds benefiting Shore Cancer Center.
We are proud to announce this year's Community Leader Honoree is Ambassador William Hughes and the Physician Honoree is Dr. David Angelastro, Medical Director for Emergency Medicine at Shore.
For nearly 50 years, Ambassador Hughes has been involved with Shore, first generously volunteering his time and expertise on the hospital board in the early 1970s, and after his service in Panama, serving on our Health System Board for nearly 20 years. He and his family have helped us in so many ways outside the hospital as well.
As Medical Director of Emergency Medicine, Dr. David Angelastro leads a passionate and talented team who are faced with unforeseen issues and uncertainty every day. Yet, despite these challenges, Shore's patient satisfaction scores for the treatment and care in the Emergency Room are in the top percentile when compared to hospitals in the entire nation. These incredible scores speak volumes on the care provided by Dr. Angelastro and his staff, and we truly appreciate everything they do.
To know the difference you and your organization can make, look to these words from Bonnie Hamilton, a Shore employee who was diagnosed with breast cancer less than a year before volunteering at the 2017 gala:
Helping out at the 'A Cause to Celebrate' gala was especially poignant for me, after all I had been through. While it has been difficult, the team at Shore Cancer Center couldn’t have been more fantastic. From the receptionist to the doctors and everyone in between, they would all comfort me and help alleviate even my silliest of my concerns.
At the event, a slideshow looped on large screens, showing the impact Shore Cancer Center has had on so many people just like me. I think about how many more people will need Shore Cancer Center’s services, and feel grateful that there are so many compassionate people in our community willing to help.
As you can see, your support has a tremendous impact, and is greatly appreciated.
Your generosity will further enhance our efforts to provide the best cancer care in our community so that patients like Bonnie Hamilton will be able to receive the care they need, close to their home, friends and family.
