- Technology
Shore Medical Center’s Laminar Ultra Airflow Operating Suite has been at the center of the region’s most advanced joint replacement program for more than ten years.
This high-tech marvel uses a high velocity air filtering system to create a completely sterile operating room environment, so important in extensive hip and knee replacement surgeries. Every eight seconds the air is completely filtered, thus reducing the chance of infection and resulting complications. Surgeons wear self-enclosed full-body “space suits” for further patient protection.
