EReach Genetic Testing Research Study

Do you have questions about your risk for cancer and would like to participate in a research study?

The University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center is conducting an eReach study on Genetic Testing.

If you are a candidate for genetic testing, you can receive genetic counseling and testing in the comfort of your own home.

 WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

  • Women and men who are 18 years of age or older with no prior genetic testing who meet criteria for genetic testing.

WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER GENETIC TESTING?

  • To help guide your screening and/or medical management recommendations.
  • To reveal if other family members are at risk.
  • If they are, they can take steps to reduce their risk or detect it early.

 HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Patients will be assigned to one of four different ways to get genetic counseling and testing.
  • Some patients will speak to a genetic counselor to learn about testing options and receive their results.
  • Others will be given the opportunity to review this same information by web
  • All patients will be able to speak to a genetic counselor, at any point, at no charge.
  • If testing is desired, a genetic counselor will coordinate.
  • The cost of testing is often completely covered by insurance for individuals who meet testing guidelines.
