Shore Medical Center announced today that Shore Cancer Center Outpatient Service Representative Julie Roche, of Cape May Court House, has been named its March Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional care to its patients. Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say 'thank you' to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.
Roche began her career at Shore Medical Center three years ago. In her role, she helps schedule appointments and coordinate care for patients who come to Shore Cancer Center for chemotherapy and other medical oncology. Her friendly and warm nature makes her easy to talk to, something that is especially helpful for patients who are faced with a cancer diagnosis.
Vickie Riskie, MSN, RN, OCN, NE-BC, Nurse Manager of Medical Oncology and Infusion Services, says, “Julie gets to know our patients well because they come in regularly. She’s a reliable and familiar face, a constant for patients when they are dealing with difficult news.”
A patient who made a Guardian Angel donation to Shore Medical Center in Roche’s honor had this to say about her:
“When I arrived at Shore Cancer Center for my first appointment several years ago, the first person to greet me was Julie. I will never forget her big smile and warm welcome. How many people can really say that they enjoy going to the Cancer Center for an appointment or treatment, knowing they will see Julie and the other staff? Julie is the perfect ambassador to Shore Cancer Center and I am so appreciative of everything she does for me!”
In her spare time, Roche enjoys walking on the beach, basking in the sun, reading, dancing, and travel, but she says, above all else, family comes first.
