General Visitor Information

  • All visitors must check in at the information desk first before visiting a patient. Volunteers at the information desk provide visitors with the patient's room number, directions, and other information.
  • Those who are not feeling well are encouraged not to visit patients. Patients in the hospital are already recovering from illness or injury and should not be exposed to additional illnesses such as the flu.
  • As part of the hospital's commitment to a healthy environment and lifestyle, the Shore Medical Center campus is a tobacco-free environment. Use of tobacco is prohibited inside any hospital buildings, in all parking areas or on any hospital grounds.
  • Shore Medical Center is pleased to offer wireless service to our patients and visitors. This service is available free of charge to those who bring in their personal wireless-enabled laptop computer. Use of this service is entirely at the risk of the user. Prospective users must read and acknowledge our disclaimer displayed on their laptop screen once connected to the guest network.
Parking Information

Whether you’re a patient or visitor, Shore Medical Center offers two convenient options for your parking needs. Shore provides valet parking at the Medical Center Way entrance to the Surgical Pavilion daily, while a four-level, 640-space garage on Medical Center Way connects to the Surgical Pavilion’s Second Floor. Both services are operated by Central Parking System.

Visiting Hours
Shore’s Spirit of Shore culture embraces patient and family centered care by meeting the needs of the patient’s medical condition, comfort, safety and privacy. Since patient directed visitation provides options that work best for patients and their family members (which includes same sex, civil union or domestic partners), visitors may be welcomed 24 hours a day with guidance from the patient's physician or nurse.

We consider the visitor an honored guest, second only to our patients. While we have a flexible visiting policy at Shore Medical Center, based on the preference and condition of our patients, we do request that all visitors be aware of the welfare of others as it relates to their conduct in the hospital. With that in mind, we ask that you please review the visitor guidelines listed below.

Visitor Guidelines

  • Visiting passes must be obtained from the information desk in the lobby.
  • No more than four visitors may visit at a time.
  • Conversation should be in low tones to avoid disturbing other patients.
  • Proper dress is required. Bare feet, bathing suits or immodest clothing is not permitted.
  • To protect the health of our patients, visitors and staff, use of tobacco is not permitted in any area of the hospital.
  • To prevent a possible choking hazard to children, latex balloons are not permitted in the Pediatric Care Center. Mylar balloons are permitted in pediatrics and latex balloons may be sent to patients in other units.
  • Flowers and balloons are not permitted in ICU, Telemetry and in some patient rooms in other units. If there is a question, please call 609-653-3411 before sending such gifts.
Food & Lodging

A coffee cart and vending machine area is available in the main lobby for light snacks and beverages. Snacks may also be purchased in the Atrium Gift Shop located near the main entrance. Additionally, there are many excellent restaurants in Somers Point, some within walking distance of the hospital.

Cafeteria Hours of Operation

  • Breakfast - Monday thru Friday 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
  • Lunch Daily - 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m . (2:00 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. -cold selections only)
  • Dinner Daily - 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Lodging
If you are not from the area, the unexpected hospitalization of a friend or family member may require you to stay overnight. Lodging is available in Somers Point and in nearby Ocean City. Download a list of Local Hotels.
