Shore Medical Center announced today that Mary Hewitt, Manager of Centralized Scheduling and Insurance Verification, has been named its December Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional care to Shore's patients. Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say 'thank you' to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.
Mary has been with Shore since 2005 when she joined the Centralized Scheduling team. She has successfully mastered every responsibility, from scheduling outpatient procedures to OR cases. Since becoming manager of the department, Mary has provided outstanding support to her team, day in and day out.
Dawn Jarrin, MHCA, MBA, Director of Patient Access and Mary’s supervisor, said, “Whether it be dealing with difficult insurance companies, or escalating issues with providers, or just being there to talk about how things can be improved, Mary always thinks of our patients and our team members first!”
A grateful patient who recognized Mary for her efforts had this to say about her, “Mary is a true professional and very competent at her job. She is diligent, dependable and always does the right thing. Thank you, Mary, for always making us feel special and looking out for us!”
Shore Medical Center’s Guardian Angel program provides an opportunity for patients and families to recognize anyone at Shore who makes a difference in their care or experience. Guardian Angels are recognized among their peers and presented with a Guardian Angel pin at Shore’s annual pinning ceremony.
