Shore Medical Center recently named Clinical Informaticist Stephanie Kramer, RN, its April Employee of the Month for consistently delivering outstanding service and embodying the organization's mission, vision, and values.
As a clinical informaticist RN, Kramer combines her clinical knowledge as a nurse with her IT expertise in the use of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to improve healthcare delivery, patient outcomes and the efficiency of the EMR.
A resident of Longport, Kramer began her career at Shore in 1991 as a laboratory technician and then received her nursing degree in 1993. Over the next 19 years, she worked as a nurse on Shore's 5 Hayes unit, and as an admissions and pre-admission testing nurse. In 2011, Kramer became involved with a clinical IT project and took on the role of 'super user,' a staff member who is an expert in the EMR system. In 2012, she joined the IT department in her present role and in 2014, received her Master's in Nursing.
Jeremy Albergo, IT Business Delivery Manager, says clinical informatics is vital for efficient nursing care in today's complex healthcare landscape. Kramer is a cornerstone of this effort at Shore.
"Stephanie excels in this critical field, ensuring our nurses and physicians have the necessary tools and technology to provide the highest quality care. She doesn't just implement the systems, she understands the practical, day-to-day challenges faced by physicians and nurses and tailors solutions accordingly," Albergo says. "Her unique expertise allows her to optimize workflows, enhance patient safety, empower nurses and drive innovation in healthcare technology."
Kramer is the proud mother of four young men (Ethan, Wyatt, Owen and Luke), and one of their favorite pastimes is skiing and traveling.
