Shore Medical Center announced today that Bernard Milus, RN, of Clementon, NJ, has been named its September Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional patient care. Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say 'thank you' to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.
Milus is a Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU) nurse who specializes in providing critical care and monitoring to patients as they recover from anesthesia following surgery or other medical procedures. He was first hired on the telemetry unit at Shore four years ago and transferred to PACU in 2022. He has developed a strong knowledge base in perioperative care and recently took on the role of charge nurse.
Amy Crowthers, BSN, RN, nurse manager of pre-admission testing, pre-op, and PACU, says, "Bernie is dedicated to his peers and flexible to meet the needs of our department. His professionalism and calm presence help maintain a safe and efficient environment in our PACU. Bernie is both compassionate and respectful in all of his interactions with his patients, ensuring they receive excellent care."
A patient recently made a Guardian Angel donation to the medical center in Milus's honor and had this to say about him:
"Thank you so much for the great care. You and your staff have made such a huge difference for me. I am feeling much better and am so appreciative for everything you did for me. "
Shore Medical Center's Guardian Angel program enables patients and families to recognize anyone at Shore who makes a difference in their care or experience. Guardian Angels are recognized among their peers and presented with a Guardian Angel pin at Shore's annual pinning ceremony.
