Shore Medical Center announced today that Nurse Aide Jackie Gomez of Egg Harbor Township has been named its December Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional patient care. Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say 'thank you' to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.
Gomez began working at Shore Medical Center in 2006, when she was hired as a nurse aide on the Advanced Spine & Orthopedic Institute/4 Hayes floor, the position she holds today. Nurse Manager Elaine Toolsie, MSN, RN, CNRN, praises Gomez as a dedicated and exceptional nurse aide who not only provides outstanding care but also serves as a preceptor for new hires, instilling in them the high standards of excellence that define Shore Medical Center.
"As a nursing assistant, Jackie Gomez exemplifies compassionate care by treating every patient with equal respect, preserving their dignity, and honoring their individuality. Her dedication ensures that each patient feels valued and supported, as she works tirelessly to help achieve the best possible healthcare outcomes," Toolsie said.
A patient recently made a Guardian Angel donation to the medical center in Gomez’s honor and had this to say about her:
“I came to the shore for a day trip from out of state and ended up in the hospital for almost a week and didn’t have any local family. Everyone at Shore was wonderful, but Jackie was exceptional! Jackie was so patient and kind to me. Jackie made me feel as though I was her only patient in addition to being empathetic and caring. Thank you, Jackie.”
Outside of work, Gomez enjoys traveling, cooking, watching television and spending time with her family.
